A proposal to require sheriff’s deputies at Washoe County polling places and eliminate voting machines in favor of paper ballots failed by a bipartisan vote Tuesday evening. Two Republicans joined the two Democrats on the Washoe County commission and voted down Republican commissioner Jeanne Herman’s resolution to drastically upend the county’s electoral process.
