Amid a worsening driver shortage, the Washoe County School District said it would cut bus service for certain regions on a rotating weekly schedule starting next week. District officials said on a media call Tuesday the unprecedented measure will allow them to continue providing some bus service for general education students despite a 28% bus driver vacancy rate. As of this week, WCSD was short 88 drivers, a number that has increased since the beginning of the school year.
