Two people are dead and nine hurt-three of them critically–in a crash in Carson City. It happened yesterday at South Carson Street and I-580. Deputies say Rolando Roney was behind the wheel of a pick-up truck towing an overweight boat when he failed to stop at a traffic light and struck another vehicle. That triggered a series of collisions. Police say Roney’s brakes overheated and failed, likely from the weight of the boat He faces charges of felony reckless driving resulting in death. They say he also didn’t have a valid driver’s license.
