Tahoe Basin sees record-breaking precipitation from weekend storm

The Sierra saw more than two feet of snow and rain in record-breaking precipitation for October in the Tahoe Basin. Eighteen inches fell in South Lake Tahoe while a foot fell at Homewood on Tahoe’s west short. Diamond Peak Ski Resort hit the snow jackpot with 30 inches. On Sunday, South Lake Tahoe saw nearly 5 inches of rain–that’s a record, beating the previous record of 3.74 inches set in 2010–all of it good news for an area that’s been in a significant drought for years.
