Massive storm douses Tamarack Fire once and for all

The massive storm we saw over the weekend has put an end to the Tamarack Fire. Sparked by lightning on July 4th, the fire, south of Gardnerville, is now fully contained. Prior to the storm, the fire was just over 80% contained. The historic rains broke drought conditions in the region and made conditions on the ground less ripe for new fires at least for now. But fire officials warn–fire season is now a year-round event.
