Washoe County has its first confirmed death from the COVID-19 Delta variant. The virus strain from India was identified in a woman in her 40s who had been hospitalized with no underlying health conditions. She was not vaccinated. The county has 34 additional cases of this virus strain currently. Of the 51 cases total, just nine were found in fully vaccinated people.
