As promised, the Washoe County School District has filed a lawsuit against the county over a decade-old over-taxation dispute involving residents of Incline Village and Crystal Bay. The county says the district owes them $19.5 million. The school district says it was not asked to be part of the settlement and shouldn’t be liable. They add a loss of $20 million would be “devastating” and likely result in layoffs. They call the county’s attempts to collect or withhold funding “illegal” and solely caused by the county’s legal decisions.
