New legislation aims to address nursing shortage

New legislation aims to address a nursing shortage in Nevada brought to light during the COVID-19 pandemic. If passed, Nevada would join nearly three dozen other states in joining the Nursing Licensure Compact, which allows nurses licensed in other states to move to the Silver State for work without getting a new state nursing license. During the pandemic, Governor Sisolak had to bypass licensing requirements to keep hospitals staffed. Supporters say this step will keep Nevada competitive with other states. Opponents say it could affect salaries and local unions.
