An outbreak of salmonella is killing finches in the Lake Tahoe region. The Tahoe Institute for Natural Science and Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care have both issued alerts this week asking the public to keep an eye out for dead birds. Dead siskins have been found in backyards in Carson Valley and Truckee.
