COVID-19 surging in northern Nevada

Northern Nevada is on the brink of what some are calling a COVID-19 tsunami as hospitals become more crowded. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that Renown’s ICU recently admitted three children with COVID-19. Renown is working on opening an emergency wing in its parking garage to treat any overflow of COVID patients.

In Washoe County, we’ve added four more COVID-19 deaths, bringing the death toll to 212. The latest deaths involve men – one in his 90s, two in their 80s, and one in his 70s. All but one had an underlying health condition.  The area also saw 263 new cases and nearly as many recoveries.

Meantime, Governor Sisolak is calling on Nevadans to get the state’s numbers under control, He’s asking everyone to stay home if they can – though no official stay-at-home order was issued. He says the state has two weeks to get things under control or new restrictions will be coming.
