A dramatic decrease in demand has dozens of Washoe County School District Nutrition Services employees fearful for their jobs. According to the Washoe County School District, up to 220 nutrition staffers could be facing layoffs. Prior to the pandemic the school district served an average of 45,000 meals per day. Since school has resumed , the district is now averaging less than 20,000 meals per day between breakfast and lunch — causing a massive budget deficit.
