Sheriff walks back comments over library controversy, library calls it ‘misunderstanding’

Sheriff Daniel Coverley is walking back comments he made, after he apparently sent the Douglas County Public Library a letter, threatening not to respond to 911 calls at the facility over their support of Black Lives Matter. But now he says his office will continue to respond to calls and will fairly and impartially apply the law. Library director Amy Dodson says it all stems from a misunderstanding over a draft diversity statement. She says there’s misinformation out there that the library was going to support BLM, and they definitely don’t support any efforts to defund the police.
