Washoe County, again, breaks record for most COVID-19 cases in a day, hospital capacity still in tact

Another record we didn’t want to see. Washoe County added 119 COVID-19 cases–breaking the 110-case record set just days ago on June 30th. Active cases have now surpassed 1-thousand. That means the county’s virus rate has nearly tripled since May. Washoe County also added a death. The death toll now stands at 77, with the latest death involving a woman in her 80s with underlying health conditions. Despite the spike in cases, Renown’s CEO says they’re not seeing any surge on hospital capacity, and an $11 milliion alternative care site has not been needed. Currently, 85 persons are hospitalized with COVID-19 in Washoe County.
