Amid coronavirus budget woes and nationwide calls to “defund the police,” Reno’s police chief says a reduction in funding and the city’s force would be “catastrophic.” Chief Jason Soto, who’s also serving as acting city manager tells News 4 police resources are already stretched too thin with 330 officers. Reno police have a $77 million budget which accounts for 35 percent of the city’s overall budget.
