Testing lab shut down over tainted cannabis

Tainted cannabis – the state’s public health department is warning that marijuana from a testing lab may be contaminated. They say the product was sold at retail and medical dispensaries in several places including at GTI Nevada or Rise in Carson City. The product was sold as flowers and pre-rolls between October and December. There’s been no reports of illness, but they say high levels of mold and fungus were found in products from Cannex Nevada in Las Vegas. The lab has been shut down.

Fire damages structure in Hidden Valley

Truckee Meadows firefighters make quick work of a fire in Hidden Valley. They were called to Pebble Beach Drive and Prestwick Circle Monday. No one was hurt.

Dottys Tavern coming to Gardnerville

A new Dottys Tavern is coming to Gardnerville. Construction on the 4,200 sq. ft. space is expected to begin next month just southeast of the Walmart in Douglas County.

Homeless along Truckee River ‘evicted’

The homeless who camp along the Truckee River are being evicted, again. KOLO-TV reports community activities Jeff Church filed a complaint that there’s feces in the river that they’re drinking from, creating a public health hazard. It’s unclear where they’ll go next. Area shelters, including the shelter on Record Street, are at capacity every night.

Bike, big rig collide in Reno

A bike and big rig collide near McCarran Boulevard and Mira Loma Drive in Reno. It happened at 6 a.m. this morning. The extent of the injuries remains unknown.

Cory Booker stops in Reno, Sparks

Presidential hopeful Cory Booker visited northern Nevada. The Democrat US Senator from New Jersey spoke to Latino voters in Sparks and also made a stop in Reno Monday. In both places, he spoke of a need for unity and says he’s the person who can heal our country and stop the divide.

Nevada Prison Inmate Dies Behind Bars

Officials say a Nevada prison inmate who was serving five-to-20 years for an attempted sexual assault conviction died behind bars. The Nevada Department of Corrections said Monday that Pedro Mejia, 58, died Saturday at the hospice unit at Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City. A cause of death was not disclosed.
