Reno firefighter injured when ceiling collapses in northwest Reno fire

A Reno firefighter is recovering from injuries suffered battling a weekend fire in northwest Reno. Firefighters were called to the 2200 block of Gatewood Drive Saturday. There, they found a roof fire had expanded into the attack. KOLO-TV reports the ceiling on the home had caved in, injuring a firefighter. The firefighter was treated and released from the hospital.

Man stabbed at pub in Incline Village

A fight ends violently at a pub in Incline Village. Sheriff’s deputies say two men were drunk and got into a fight, and one stabbed the other early this morning at Village Pub; the victim was hospitalized.

Midtown Reno construction begins again

Construction returns to midtown Reno. The next step of a reconstruction project begins Monday along a stretch of South Virginia Street as the RTC seeks to create a pedestrian-friendly street with wider sidewalks and landscaping.

Fire officials stop fire near Rancho Haven

Fire officials stop forward progress of a fire near Rancho Haven. Truckee Meadows firefighters say the blaze spanned more than 25 acres when it was first reported Sunday night near the north end of Red Rock Road. Crews fought the flames by ground and by air.

Reno Police Crack Down on Street Racing

Police in Reno say they made six arrests in a crackdown on street racing.
Friday night’s operation also resulted in two vehicles involved in speed contests being impounded and 10 warnings. Police say they were responding to concerns about the dangers created by illegal street racing and plan similar operations in the coming months. The enforcement effort was funded by a state grant.

Bomb Squad Detonates Suspicious Package

A Washoe County Sheriff’s Office reported a suspicious package at Olinghouse Road in Wadsworth just after 11 p.m. Sunday night. Firefighters from Pyramid Lake Fire Rescue were called to the scene. Bomb Squad arrived at the scene and x-rayed the suspicious package but have not yet released its contents. It is unknown at this time what investigators found at the home, but there was a detonation and officials have confirmed that there is no longer a threat.

Stabbing at Incline Village

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office says two men in their 30’s got into a fight at the Village Pub in Incline Village around one am this morning. One man was stabbed and taken to the hospital. Deputies say both men were intoxicated. Neither man’s name has been released.

A Carson City man who died Thursday morning in a crash at Lake Tahoe has been identified and Rich Hancock has the story;

[recorded copy] The victim of a wreck on Highway 50 has been identified as 37-year-old Hugo Parra-Solis, who died near Elks Point Road after being struck by an oncoming pickup which crossed the center median line.
