Dozens rescued after being stranded amid snow drifts on Mt. Rose Highway

First responders were busy this weekend, rescuing dozens who got stuck in treacherous and life-threatening conditions along Mt. Rose Highway. The snow-trapped vehicles had ignored chain controls, stranding them on the highway that eventually had to be closed. Sheriff’s spokesman Bob Harmon says conditions were far worse than what we’re used to. Snow drifts of 3 to 4 feet made the roadway impassable even for four-wheel drive trucks.
