Woman steals Truckee Fire SUV, crashes it in icy conditions

The California Highway Patrol is looking for a woman who allegedly stole a Truckee Fire Protection District SUV and crashed. Police say she careened head-on into another vehicle Monday on California 89 after losing control on ice. Both drivers were hospitalized. Firefighters say the inspection vehicle was parked at the fire station with the keys inside when it was stolen. They say that practice is routine and it’s the first time in 20 years a vehicle has been stolen.
