UNR scientists talks about ‘Firenado’ that made Carr Fire so destructive

A UNR scientist is warning about the destructive nature of the Carr Fire in California that killed eight people and devastated the town of Redding. KOLO-TV reports scientist Neil Lareau wrote about a little observed phenomena in the atmosphere, known as the vortex. He says the massive stream of rising, spinning smoke, ash and fire created a “Firenado” that spun with the power of a class three tornado.
