Legislative push seeks to drive Uber, Lyft out of NV

A push to end Uber and Lyft once and for all in Nevada A last-minute amendment to a bill aims to force the ride-hailing companies to have $1.5 million in insurance. That’s five times the level a taxi driver is required to have. The companies call Assemblyman Richard Carrillo’s bill a “death blow.” The Reno Gazette-Journal reports no one spoke in favor of the bill while a number of drivers spoke against it. The committee took no action-but still has time to do so. The ride-sharing companies already fought off a bill that would’ve required them to wait 15 minutes to pick up a person who requested a ride.
