Some campgrounds to be closed Memorial Day weekend over snowpack

While ski resorts stay open later, campgrounds can’t open soon enough-and some won’t be open in time for the holiday weekend. News 4 reports Splitrock and Ridge campgrounds at Donner Memorial State Park are closed due to flooding. They’re not expected to reopen until June. Creek campground at that site remains open to about 50 campers. Campgrounds at Lake Tahoe Basin are open for the season, but those along the West Shore of Lake Tahoe remain shuttered because there’s still a lot of snow there. Meeks Bay Campground opens today-followed by Kaspian and William Kent in early June. Boca and Stampede campgrounds off I-80 west of Reno opened yesterday.
