NV gets $6M to fight opioid addiction

Nevada is getting nearly $6 million to fight the heroin and opioid epidemic that’s gripping the nation. The federal money from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration will be used to fight back against prescription drug abuse through added prevention and treatment programs and an expansion of Naloxone, which can reverse overdoses. Nevada has taken steps to try to decrease overdoses by reducing criminal penalties and increasing scrutiny over patients’ prescription drug histories.
