UNR frat, Sigma Nu, to appeal its suspension

A University of Nevada Reno fraternity at the center of a death investigation is appealing is suspension. Sigma Nu has requested a hearing to appeal its 15-year suspension. The frat was suspended after the death of 18-year-old pledge Ryan Abele in October. Abele fell down the stairs, suffered a brain injury, and later died. The school says the frat violated the student code of conduct by having alcohol, pot and strippers at a party the night before Abele’s fatal fall. The frat is also under a criminal investigation and a national Sigma Nu investigation.
