NV’s gun background checks law sees major roadblock

The people voted for it-but that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen. Question 1-which narrowly passed in the General Election-calls for FBI background checks on private gun sales. But the Nevada AG’s office says the measure doesn’t allow state agencies to conduct the checks. It requires the FBI to do so. The FBI won’t do it-they punted back to the state saying it’s their responsibility. Sheriffs from various Nevada counties say they won’t enforce the law because they can’t. For now, that means citizens can’t be prosecuted for failing to comply.
