Federal investigators say 60 deaths may be linked to alleged pill mill

At least 60 deaths may be tied to an alleged prescription drug pill mill that federal authorities busted in the spring. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the investigation began with a tip that came to authorities last summer. But authorities say the investigation didn’t begin until the death of ex U-N-R football player, Michael Yenick, who overdosed on pain pills prescribed by Dr. Robert Rand. Rand was arrested along with Richie West Junior-the son of a well-known of a car dealer in town. The federal investigation included wiretaps and confidential informants. Seven others with ties to the Jones West Ford dealership were also arrested. Everyone involved has pleaded not guilty.
