New Phone Scam Spoofs Nev. Attorney General’s Office

A statement from the office of Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt is warning state residents about a new phone scam making the rounds. Callers pretend to be from either his office or the U.S. Dept. of the Treasury and try to get personal information money from victims. The scam is more sophisticated than most since callers already have some victim information such as names, phone numbers, and partial Social Security numbers. Laxalt asks anyone receiving one of these calls to hang up and directly contact his office to verify the caller’s identity.
