Gardnerville man shot, killed by police after standoff

A Gardnerville man is dead in a standoff with police. Douglas County Sheriffs Deputies say they shot and killed 48-year-old Mark Perkins after he allegedly pointed two weapons at officers. Deputies were called to the home on Monument Peak Drive in the Gardnerville Ranchos Thursday afternoon after reports that Perkins was threatening his wife. Deputies say Perkins confronted the officers with weapons, and that’s when he was shot. Six deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave. A criminal investigation by the Carson City Sheriff’s Office is underway.
