Reno’s mayor be able to ask for the city manager’s resignation without going through city council. They’re considering a renewal of city manager Andrew Clinger’s contract which expires next year, at a meeting Wednesday. An amendment,as part of new contract language, is aimed at avoiding what could become a messy, public removal process. But mayor Hillary Schieve tells the Reno-Gazette Journal she’s uncomfortable with that and thinks city council should vote on the issue. Most of council agreed. Clinger’s been city manager since 2011 and has been praised for his progress during a transition period.
