With the Reno-Tahoe area under a flash flood watch last night, crews were working to prevent street flooding. Washoe County crews cleaned out storm drains to make sure any heavy rains had somewhere to go. Amazingly, they found items as large as mattresses clogging up those storm drains. In the city of Reno, more than 9-thousand drains are checked and cleaned twice a year. Crews perform extra inspections in areas that have flooded in the past, such as 4th and Stoker.
