Demolition of a more than century-old bridge in Reno is underway. But if you wanted a piece of the Virginia Street Bridge, you’re out of luck. The Reno-Gazette Journal reports that the city has no plans on making souvenirs out of chunks of the historic bridge. City officials say they’ve got no safe way to distribute them; they add-some might think it’s insensitive to auction off pieces of history. A brand new bridge is being constructed to replace the ailing Virginia Street Bridge to control flooding. The $18 million bridge is expected to be complete in May.
