Nevada senators pass a bill they hope will end a fight between rooftop solar companies and NV Energy. The Senate voted unanimously Sunday to pass Senate Bill 374. Rooftop solar companies have been protesting against a 3 percent state cap on how many solar customers can sell energy back to utility companies. NV Energy argues the practice will benefit solar users at the expense of traditional energy customers. The measure allows the state’s Public Utilities Commission to decide on a tax to charge solar companies once they hit a cap.
