Cut your use of outdoor water.
After three years of drought, the Truckee Meadows Water Authority is asking customers to reduce outdoor water use by 10%. That means that if you water for 10 minutes, to cut that down to nine minutes and avoid watering between 11 AM and 7 PM. The authority’s Mark Foree tells 2 News some customers have already started conserving water. Water usage is down from the peak on July 3, when 120 million gallons of water were used. With 93,000 households, cutting watering by 10% could save enough to cover 2,000 acres in a foot of water.
