Reno Launches Pedestrian Safety Zones

In an effort to reduce deadly pedestrian crashes, the city of Reno is launching new pedestrian safety zones across the area. The zones, which will be treated similarly to school and construction zones, will lower the speed limit in populated areas surrounding the downtown corridor. The first pedestrian safety zone was installed on Center St. between 4th and Record streets on Tuesday morning. Effective immediately, the speed limit will be reduced to 20 miles per hour in the designated areas.
