Lyon Co. Commission declares economic State of Emergency due to COVID restrictions

Lyon County Commissioners have declared an economic state of emergency due to COVID-19 restrictions. They took a unanimous vote to approve a resolution encouraging the sheriff to use discretion not to enforce or respond to complaints about the governor’s emergency directives. They add the DA is encouraged not to prosecute such violations. Commissioners also agreed to continue to cooperate with public health and the Quad-County Health to incorporate recommendations and encouraged businesses to continue to operate within the governor’s emergency directives though they condemn all infringements on liberty. The resolution also encourages commissioners to encourage state lawmakers to support statutes that would limit the governor’s authority in a State of Emergency.
