Firefighters close in on Monarch Fire

Firefighters are close to full containment of the massive Monarch Fire in Douglas County. The fire, sparked by lightning Wednesday, south of Sierra Spirit Ranch scorched more than 2,300. No buildings burned and no one’s been injured.

State Workers say They Were Shutout in Budget Process

In the final week of June, Nevada lawmakers approved nearly $90 million dollars in budget cuts to balance the 2020 budget. While legislators argue those cuts were necessary, some state workers argued they were not informed about the budget cuts nor did they have a chance to discuss them.

More Cases But No New Deaths

Health officials in Nevada reported 821 additional positive cases of the coronavirus around the state Sunday, but no new deaths. Reno Air Races canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic

The Reno Air Races are yet another casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Reno Air Racing Association Board says concerns surrounding health and safety of those involved and guests played a major part in their decision-plus there’s too much uncertainty around coronavirus restrictions for large events. The races will return in 2021.

Washoe, Douglas deputies won’t criminally enforce mask mandate

While Governor Sisolak’s mask-wearing mandate IS the law, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam says his deputies won’t be arresting anyone for not wearing a mask. Graffiti on the rise in Incline Village, Highland Ranch

Graffiti is on the rise in several neighborhoods south from Incline Village and north to Highland Ranch. The Washoe County sheriff’s office says we often see a spike in vandalism in the summertime, and they’re asking you to report any graffiti you see as soon as you see it.
