Nevada’s attorney general is warning nursing homes not to take stimulus checks from their elderly residents. He says residents on Medicaid cannot be required to sign over their stimulus checks. By federal law, the checks are a tax credit and don’t count as a resource for federal benefits programs.

A Sparks woman is hit by a vehicle near the marina. It happened last night. She was using when a crosswalk when she was hit. Police cited the driver. The victim was hospitalized in stable condition.
A driver is rescued from a burning Jeep by Washoe County sheriff’s deputies. It happened Wednesday after a two-vehicle crash at Rock Boulevard and Longley Lane. Two persons were hospitalized. The driver of the Jeep suffered critical injuries.
Reno City Council shoots down a proposal to annex more than 1,000 acres along Evans Creek. Council’s unanimous decision not to annex Ballardini Ranch comes over fire concerns and a lack of access. It’s believed developer Evans Creek had wanted to build a large housing complex on the site.

A man is in stable condition after being shot near his shoulder Wednesday evening near Yori Avenue and Gallaway Lane in Reno.
