Reno City Council denies exclusive contract with Renown

Reno city employees won’t be bound to treatment at Renown and Hometown Health Providers. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that City Council voted unanimously not to contract exclusively with the healthcare providers, saying choice is more important than potentially lower rates. The deal was touted to save nearly a half-million-dollars over two years, but council members say they’ve got no proof of that. They also fear the deal could hurt competition in the market.
