New bridge in Tahoe City approved

A new bridge is coming to Tahoe City. Regional planning officials have unanimously approved the so-called “Fanny Bridge” project. The bridge will re-align Route 89 with Tahoe City. The 30-million-dollar bridge is part of a long-term revitalization effort to make the city more walkable and bikeable. Officials say it will also resolve safety and structural issues for the 87-year-old bridge at the northwest corner of Lake Tahoe. Construction won’t be complete until 2018.
