3 face welfare fraud charges in Reno, Sparks

The owners of two stores in Reno and Sparks face charges of welfare fraud. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office says Mohammed Ibrahim, owner of Dhaka Foods in Sparks, Tania Hali, owner of the Family Mart on 4th Street in Reno and MD Abdul Hasnat, an employee of both stores, conspired with food stamp participants to fraudulently obtain funds from the program. Their arrests are the result of a year-and-a-half long investigation that uncovered more than $375,000 was stolen from SNAP funds.
